Bernarda is on a journey to storytell the legends, motifs and meaning behind Indonesian batik. An alumni of LaSalle International College in Jakarta and Sugino Fashion College in Tokyo, Bernarda shares the tradition of storytelling with wax-resistant dyeing techniques of batik. Through The Batik Library, Bernarda offers unique pieces that intend to:

Return to natural and traditional dyes in protection of the planet.
Blend distinctive patterns with a modern, gender-neutral design for a one-of-a-kind look that's for everyone.
Preserves the practice of batik making and its origins in Java, Indonesia.

Bernarda also offers workshops introducing batik making to hobbyists and community members in North America. You can usually find Bernarda in the crowd of her local craft market or behind-the-scenes in the costumes department, and always craving a martabak
